The NLJC Greater East Alabama Chapter improves the lives of students by developing social skills that will last a lifetime. Good manners make life more enjoyable for all. We are thrilled to announce the Pre-Cotillion program will be offered to second-fourth grade students in East Alabama.

WHAT IS PRE-COTILLION?

THE PRE-COTILLION PROGRAM SETTING WILL ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO BE COMFORTABLE TOGETHER, TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND ENJOY THEMSELVES. THROUGH ROLE-PLAYING, HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE AND STORYTELLING IN A PEER GROUP YOUNG LADIES AND GENTLEMEN ARE EXPECTED TO LEAVE THE PROGRAM WITH THE BEGINNINGS OF CONFIDENCE AND POISE THAT COME FROM KNOWING THE PROPER THINGS TO DO IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS.

PRE-COTILLION IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS IN THE K – FOURTH GRADES. THERE MAY BE THREE PROGRAMS: PRE-COTILLION I, PRE-COTILLION II AND PRE-COTILLION III.

WHAT SKILLS WILL CHILDREN LEARN IN PRE-COTILLION?

PRE-COTILLION I STUDENTS WILL LEARN: MANNERS IN THE HOME, BEING INTRODUCED, SHAKING HANDS AND NON-CONTACT GREETINGS, PAYING AND RECEIVING COMPLIMENTS, BIRTHDAY PARTY ETIQUETTE, BASIC TABLE MANNERS, AND MORE.

PRE-COTILLION II STUDENTS WILL LEARN: GREETING, SHAKING HANDS AND NON-CONTACT GREETINGS, RULES OF INTRODUCTIONS, SPORTS ETIQUETTE, FAST FOOD ETIQUETTE, MORE ADVANCED TABLE MANNERS, BASIC LINE DANCE AND MORE.

PRE-COTILLION III WILL TEACH AND REINFORCE THE ABOVE AND PREPARE STUDENTS FOR JUNIOR COTILLION (GRADES FIFTH-TWELFTH).
