National League of Junior Cotillions
Coffee County Chapter
Welcome
We are delighted to introduce you to the National League of Junior Cotillions, Coffee County Chapter, an organization that offers young people instruction and practice in the courtesies that make life more pleasant for them and those around them. We also offer an introduction to ballroom dance which includes: the shag, cha cha, waltz, electric slide and other popular line dances. Students are provided opportunities to pratice and enjoy these skills at memorable parties, dances, classes and balls. The Coffee County chapter was established in 1998 providing etiquette and dance training for students in Coffee and surrounding counties.
The Junior Cotillion setting encourages young ladies and gentlemen to be comfortable together, make new friends, and enjoy themselves. After constant practice in a peer group they are expected to leave the program with the confidence and poise that comes from knowing the proper etiquette in any social situation.
About Director
The Coffee County Chapter is sponsored by members of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and under the direction of Lou Hennesy. The Junior Cotillion program was established in Coffee County in 1998 by Mrs. Charles Miller (Becky) recognizing the need for this type of instruction for her own three children and their friends.
Mrs. Hennesy holds a B.A. in Sociology and a Masters in Education from Valdosta State Univeristy. She worked as an educator in the Coffee County School System and has enjoyed transferring her love for teaching and working with young people to the Junior Cotillion program. Mrs. Hennesy is a long time resident of Coffee County and became involved with the Junior Cotillion program at the invitation of Mrs. Miller in 1999. Mrs. Hennesy's daughter was entering sixth grade so it was the perfect time to get involved. Mrs. Hennesy is an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, a dedicated volunteer promoting breast cancer awareness and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
The members of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi serve as the Advisory Board and work tirelessly throughout the year volunteering their time to make this program possible for our community.
