Why Junior Cotillion?
The National League of Junior Cotillions (NLJC) South Brevard Chapter provides 5th through 12th-grade students with essential social training, modern etiquette skills, and traditional ballroom dance instruction. Our goal is to equip young ladies and gentlemen with the poise, character, and self-assurance needed to navigate modern social, academic, and future professional environments with distinction.

Announcements
Year 1: Foundation, Social Etiquette & Formal Intro (5th Grade)
Year 1 focuses on introducing foundational social graces, basic ballroom dancing steps, and essential character-building principles. It provides a gentle, encouraging entry point to help young students feel comfortable in formal and social settings.
Class Themes & Progression
September 13th – Introduction Class: Setting expectations, basic posture, handshakes, and introducing first steps in ballroom dance.
October 4th – Autumn Class: Courtesy, respect, polite conversation, and expanding basic dance steps.
November 8th – Thanksgiving Class: Gratitude, host/guest responsibilities, and party etiquette.
December 6th – Holly Ball: The season’s first formal social event, allowing students to put early etiquette and dance skills into practice.
January 10th – Winter Class: Table manners refresher, telephone/digital etiquette, and continuing dance instruction.
February 7th – Valentine Class / Parents’ Dip into Dancing: A fun session where parents are invited to join their students on the dance floor.
February 28th – Grand Spring Ball: The showcase event of the Year 1 curriculum, celebrating the students' progress in a full formal setting.

Section A: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Section B: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Year 2: Applied Skills, Leadership & Formal Dining (6th – 9th+ Grade)
Year 2 moves beyond the basics into practical life application, self-presentation, advanced social protocols, and formal dining experiences.
Class Themes & Progression
Back to Basics: Reviewing core manners, posture, and dance fundamentals to set a high standard for the year.
First Impressions: Body language, introductions, eye contact, and making positive, lasting personal connections.
Dress for Success: Understanding dress codes, groom standards, and dressing appropriately for various occasions.
Table Skills & Dining Etiquette: Practical preparation for multi-course meals, place settings, utensil usage, and table conversation.
5-Course Instructional Dinner (Jan 24th): A hands-on dining experience where students navigate a formal 5-course instructional meal
Social Networking / Parents’ Dip into Dancing: Modern etiquette for modern environments, with an interactive dance session with parents.
Grand Spring Ball (Feb 28th): The culmination of the Year 2 season, featuring advanced ballroom dancing and formal protocols.

Premiere (Season 3): Cultural Outings & Civic Duty
Season 3 takes students out of the traditional classroom setting and into real-world cultural, social, and civic environments. It focuses on well-rounded cultural literacy, community involvement, and diverse dining cultures.
Events & Outings
August 29, 7-10pm– Outing at The Henegar Center: Cultural exposure through live theater and venue etiquette.
September 27, 2-4pm – Pool Party / Icebreaker: Casual social skills and hosting dynamics in a relaxed environment.
October 18, 4-5:30pm – Refresher Class: Reviewing high-level social protocol and dance routines.
November 1, 11-1pm – Sunday Brunch: Navigating daytime formal/semi-formal meal etiquette and conversation.
December 12, 6-8pm – The Nutcracker: A seasonal outing to practice formal arts/theater attendance etiquette.
January 23, 4-5:30pm – Asian Instructional Dinner: Cultural exploration through international dining styles and chopstick etiquette.
February 20, 9-10:30am – Beach/Park Cleanup: Civic engagement, teamwork, and community service.
March 7, 4:30-7pm – Spring Dinner & Dancing: The final celebration and dinner dance wrapping up the Premiere season.

Trained as a certified business etiquette consultant by the prestigious Protocol School of Palm Beach, Mrs Windle brings a wealth of expertise, passion, and elegance to youth character development.
Her mission is simple yet transformative: to equip young ladies and gentlemen with essential social intelligence, traditional ballroom dancing skills, and time-honored courtesy. From basic table manners and digital etiquette to grand formal balls and cultural instructional dinners, Mrs Windle fosters a warm, encouraging environment where students build lifetime friendships, mutual respect, and unshakeable poise.

Tuition & Payment Options
Registration is complete once a non-refundable deposit or full payment is received. Tuition covers all classes throughout the season, both Balls, and student workbooks.

Refunds are only issued to families who are relocating or under extreme circumstances, out of fairness to those on our waiting list.

Please note that participating children may appear in photos used to promote the NLJC South Brevard program unless a written request stating otherwise is submitted to the Director.
