Classes
Pre-Cotillion Program
Pre-Cotillion is a three-day course designed to introduce our youngest students to basic manners and the courtesies that make life more comfortable for them and those around them.
Pre-Cotillion I for rising 1st-2nd grade students includes manners in the home, being introduced and shaking hands, paying and receiving compliments, birthday party etiquette, and basic table manners.
Pre-Cotillion II for rising 3rd-4th grade students includes rules of introductions, sports etiquette, fast food etiquette, more advanced table manners, and a basic line dance.
Junior Cotillion Program
Junior Cotillion Fifth Grade for rising 5th-grade students provides age-appropriate lessons in etiquette and social dancing. Children learn how to act and treat others with honor, dignity and respect through fun and interactive games. Topics include table etiquette, correspondence, family courtesies, and being a good friend. The most basic dance steps will be introduced and a two-hand hold replaces the closed dance position. The season ends with a festive Valentine's Dance.
Junior Cotillion I for rising 6th-7th grade students provides instruction in proper introductions, polite conversation, table manners, receiving lines, paying and receiving compliments, and manners in the home. Social dance instruction includes the Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing/Shag, and Cha Cha. The Grand Spring Ball serves as the finale to the Cotillion season.
Junior Cotillion II for rising 7th-8th grade students continues the lessons from Junior Cotillion I and features a 5-Course Instructional Meal. Classes focus on social graces, dressing appropriately, dining etiquette, and manners in the home and public. Students learn more advanced dance step combinations and will dance in the closed dance position. The Grand Spring Ball provides a beautiful setting to showcase lessons learned throughout the season. Completion of Junior Cotillion I is encouraged but not required to attend Junior Cotillion II.
Junior Cotillion Premiere for rising 7th-8th grade students is a combination of in- class instruction and field trips where students can practice manners in public. Students will receive instruction in international dining etiquette and theater etiquette through cultural outings to an international restaurant, Asheville City Ballet's The Nutcracker, and a Diana Wortham Theatre production at the Wortham Center for Performing Arts. Completion of Junior Cotillion I and II is strongly encouraged but not required to attend Junior Cotillion III..
