The Golden Isles Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions would like to thank you for your interest in our programs!
You are invited to look here and on social media to learn more about this outstanding program for educating children and young adults in etiquette, ethics and social dance. We began the program in the Golden Isles in the fall of 2019. This program has been offered nationwide with headquarters in Charlotte, NC since 1978. It is a time-tested, proven formula for giving students the important social skills and knowledge that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. We are building the leaders of tomorrow and are passionate about sharing the importance of social and life skills training for today's youth.
PRE-COTILLION FOR GRADES 1st-4th
We are delighted to offer Pre-Cotillion classes in the Golden Isles for 1st - 4th grade.
The purpose of the NLJC is to give young people instruction and practice in the courtesies that make life more pleasant for them and those around them. We offer instruction in the areas of complete social etiquette that focus in the area of developing character. In addition to the usual courtesies, including Greetings, Table Manners, Correspondence and Appearances, we also offer instruction in the areas of Birthday Parties, Sports Manners, Restaurants (both fast food and formal) and the values of honor, respect, dignity, honesty and responsibility.
Pre-Cotillion 1st-4th and offers instruction in the areas of basic manners in the home - appearances, introductions, sports manners and basic table manners, including such things as the proper way to eat soup, using a knife and fork - while introducing words and their meanings, referred to as power words, that will instill common courtesies throughout their lifetimes - thank you, you're welcome, yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, please, may I?, I'm sorry, and excuse me. We will have a birthday party complete with cake, presents and thank-you notes - taught in a manner that will emphasize the proper courtesies.
We ask parents to pre-register for Pre-Cotillion on our website. The schedule for Pre-Cotillion will consist of three classes. The classes will be offered once a month in Fall. Click on 'Classes' then scroll down to Pre-Cotillion to see if the dates and times fit your busy schedule and sign up now.

JUNIOR COTILLION FOR GRADES 5th and up (Year I and Year II)
Year I and Year II offer once-a-month classes for 5th and up grade boys and girls from October until March. Classes are held on Sundays on Saint Simons Island. The schedule is listed on our website and can be viewed by clicking "CLASSES" in the menu.
Year I will cover topics such as proper seating and escort position, introductions, receiving compliments, manners in the home, thank you notes, basic table manners, telephone etiquette, electronic/social media etiquette and responding to invitations.
Year II classes will cover topics such as manners in public places, characteristics of noble character, being a guest and a host, interview etiquette, dress codes, how to tie a tie, table manners, cell phone etiquette, polite conversation, formal dinner guidelines, place settings, a theater outing and an instructional dinner.

Attire for Classes - All Junior Cotillion sessions are dress-up affairs for which careful grooming is required. Hair should be neatly combed, fingernails clipped and clean, shoes polished. No athletic shoes or flop flops. Ladies should wear conservative Sunday dresses or skirts and dress shoes for classes. Gentlemen should wear khaki pants, dress shirts, ties, and navy or dark blazers.
