Pre-Cotillion

For rising 2nd-4th grades, we are offering Pre-Cotillion for the first time in Maury County!  This popular and fun program covers shaking hands, table manners, birthday party etiquette and more.  A great precursor to Junior Cotillion, students are encouraged to sign up each summer.  Tuition is $175 and includes six hours of interactive instruction, refreshments, party favors and a student booklet.  Tuition is due in full and can be paid online when you register.  The dress code is country club casual.  Boys will wear khaki shorts or pants with a belt and tucked in polo shirt.  Girls will wear summer casual skirts or dresses.  Shoes should be sandals with a back or other closed toed shoes.  Please avoid athletic shoes or crocs.

Junior Cotillion

Designed for rising 5th-8th graders, Junior Cotillion teaches manners, etiquette and ballroom dance.  It provides a fun environment to practice with their peers and the students learn to be comfortable in any social situation.  Tuition for Junior Cotillion is $375 and includes five classes, two Balls, refreshments, prizes and a student handbook. If you register more than one child for Junior Cotillion this season, there is a $50 sibling discount.

All Junior Cotillion classes and Balls are dressy affairs.  For classes and the Winter Ball, gentlemen will wear khaki pants, dress shirt, tie and dark blazer with dress shoes.  Ladies will wear age-appropriate, knee-length or longer dresses or skirts with sandals with a back or dress shoes and short white gloves.   The last event of the school is year is The Grand Spring Ball and this is our dressiest event.  It is semi-formal and gentlemen will wear suits and ladies will wear knee-length or longer semi-formal dresses or skirts with short white gloves.

Year 1 classes are Sunday afternoons, once a month, starting in September, from 2:00pm to 3:30 pm.  Year 1 is typically for students in the 5th or 6th grade.  There are also generally a few 7th graders in Year 1.

Year 2 classes will be the same Sunday afternoon, once a month, usually from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.   All of the students, Year 1 and Year 2, are together for the February class and the two balls.

Please sign up for Year 2 if you have attended Year 1 or if your child is in the 7th grade, you have the option to sign them up for Year 1 or Year 2.  Please contact the Director to learn more about the demographic of the class and to decide what would be the best fit for your child.  If your child is in 8th grade, please sign them up for Year 2 even if this is their first year of Junior Cotillion.

All classes are held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church Parish Hall at 311 W. 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401.

About Director

With over 15 years professional experience in sales and marketing in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, and a passion for teaching, Kimberly Wallace is starting her fourth season as Director of The National League of Junior Cotillion for Maury County.

"In our increasingly casual and online culture, I see a real need to strengthen traditional face-to-face interaction among our young people.  With clear instruction in manners, etiquette, and basic ballroom dance, and a supportive place to practice,  Junior Cotillion middle school students gain poise and confidence and are better prepared for high school, college, job interviews and life."

Kim grew up in Michigan, lived in Atlanta for 20+ years, and now lives in Columbia, TN with her husband and two children.  They attend St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Supportive of her community, Kim has served in many volunteer roles over the years.  She currently teaches Sunday School and coaches volleyball and basketball.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management from Michigan State University.
