About
Junior Cotillion is a curriculum designed to give young people instruction and practice in the courtesies that make life more pleasant for them and those around them. The program includes training in social etiquette, ballroom dance, and character education. Junior Cotillion provides opportunities to practice and enjoy these skills at gatherings, parties, dinners, and events.
Students will receive instruction in proper introductions, participating in group settings, polite conversation, paying and receiving compliments, telephone courtesy (including cell and text messaging), acknowledgement of gifts, receiving lines, sports etiquette, first impressions, manners in the home and in public places, and dress code for all occasions. The curriculum also includes the ethic of having honor, dignity, respect, honesty, fairness, a caring attitude, accountability, and citizenship.
Pre-Cotillion is a program designed for first-fourth grade students. The setting will encourage students to be comfortable together, to make new friends and enjoy themselves. Through role-playing, hands on experience and storytelling in a peer group, young ladies and gentlemen are expected to leave the program with the beginning of confidence and poise that comes from knowing the proper things to do. Classes will cover topics such as manners in the home, being introduced and shaking hands, paying and receiving compliments, birthday party etiquette and basic table manners.
Pre-Cotillion sessions are hosted for three consecutive weeks. Classes are 75 minutes in duration. Classes will be hosted on the same day/week.
